Budget 2026-27 Present Sunday, 1st February or Monday, 2nd February
Budget 2026-27: The countdown to the Union Budget 2026-27 has begun. The budget is presented every year on 1st February. This time, 1st February, 2026, falls on a Sunday. So, will the budget be presented on Sunday, February 1st, or Monday, February 2nd?
Since 2017, the Narendra Modi government has fixed 1st February as the date for presenting the budget, but it has never happened before that this date falls on a Sunday. This raises the question of whether the budget will be presented on February 1st this time as well, or if the date might be changed.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her eighth consecutive Union Budget this time. This will also be the 80th Union Budget since independence. If the budget is presented on a Sunday, it could set a new record.
According to the report, it is unlikely that the government will present the budget on Saturday, 31st January. If the budget is not presented on Sunday, it could be presented on February 2nd (Monday). It’s worth noting that since 2017, the budget has been presented on February 1st to ensure the timely passage of the Finance Bill and a smooth start to the new financial year on 1st April. In both 2020 and 2025, February 1st fell on a Saturday, and the budget was presented on that day.
