Yogi Govt Bets Big on Industrial Growth in ₹9.12 Lakh Crore UP Budget
UP Unveils ₹9.12 Lakh Crore Budget with Strong Push for Industry and MSMEs: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday presented its largest-ever budget of ₹9,12,696 crore for the financial year 2026-27. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said the budget is 12.2% higher than the previous year. Capital expenditure has been set at 19.5%, and the fiscal deficit will remain at 3% as per the 16th Finance Commission’s guidelines.
Focus on Infrastructure and Industry: The government has proposed ₹27,103 crore for infrastructure and industrial development, 13% more than last year.
-₹5,000 crore for expanding and promoting new industrial areas
-₹2,000 crore under the Atal Infrastructure Mission
-₹1,000 crore for FDI and Fortune 500 investment incentives
-₹2,374 crore for the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme (tablets/smartphones)
Under the Defence Industrial Corridor Project, 200 MoUs have been signed, bringing in ₹35,280 crore investment and over 53,000 jobs.
MSME Boost:
₹3,822 crore has been allocated for MSMEs, a 19% increase from last year. The MSME sector in UP employs around 3.11 crore people.
New and key schemes include:
-₹575 crore for the “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment and Industrial Zone”
-₹1,000 crore for the Chief Minister’s Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign (target: 1 lakh micro-enterprises annually)
-₹225 crore for the Youth Self-Employment Scheme
-₹75 crore for the new “One District One Dish” scheme
Other Key Allocations:
-Education: 12.4% of the total budget
-Medical facilities: 6%
-Agriculture and allied services: 9%
The government said it remains committed to financial discipline and debt control.
