Markets Rally as Sensex Jumps 463 Points, Nifty Surges 174
The Sensex closed 463 points higher and the Nifty closed 174 points higher: The domestic stock market witnessed a strong rally today. On Monday, the first trading day of the week, the BSE Sensex closed 463.15 points (0.55%) higher at 84,043.55. The NSE Nifty 50 index also gained 173.60 points (0.68%) to close at 25,867.30. The market had opened in positive territory. The positive reaction from investors today followed the announcement of a trade agreement between India and the United States on Saturday.
On Monday, shares of 21 out of 30 companies in the Sensex closed higher, while the remaining 9 companies saw their shares close lower. Similarly, in the Nifty 50, shares of 34 out of 50 companies closed higher, while the remaining 16 companies saw their shares close lower. Among the Sensex companies, State Bank of India’s shares closed with the biggest gain of 7.46%, while Power Grid’s shares closed with the largest decline of 1.11%.
Among the other Sensex companies, Titan shares closed 2.78 percent higher, Tata Steel 2.56%, UltraTech Cement 2.52%, Eternal 1.91%, BEL 1.85%, Kotak Mahindra Bank 1.52%, Trent 1.30%, IndiGo 1.11%, Mahindra & Mahindra 1.04%, L&T 0.98%, Adani Ports 0.78%, Reliance Industries 0.73%, Asian Paints 0.60%, Sun Pharma 0.58%, HCL Tech 0.45%, Hindustan Unilever 0.42%, TCS 0.19%, Bajaj Finance 0.14%, Bharti Airtel 0.05%, and Bajaj Finserv shares closed 0.02% higher.
