Stock market opens in red, Sensex falls 70 points, Nifty also down: The domestic stock market started the last trading session of the week in the red. At 9:16 am, the BSE Sensex was trading at 82,427.30, down 70.84 points. At the same time, the NSE Nifty was also trading at 25,448.35, down 6 points. During today’s trading session, investors will especially keep an eye on stocks like ABB India, CIE Automotive India, Novartis India, GHV Infra Projects, Waaree Energies, Texmaco Rail & Engineering, Pace Digitech and Railtel Corporation of India.

The Indian stock market today saw pressure on the Nifty due to selling in key IT and financial stocks. Major Nifty losers included Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, HCL Technologies, and Bajaj Finance. Gainers included Coal India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Eicher Motors, and Bharat Electronics.

Midcap and smallcap stocks are sluggish, with the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices trading flat. Sectoral indices include the IT index, which declined 1.3%, while the media index is down 1%. The PSU Bank index, on the other hand, is up 0.5%. Overall, the market remains sector-specific, with IT and media stocks under pressure, while PSU banks and select stocks are seeing buying.
