Stock Market Highlights: Sensex surged 944 points, Nifty closed above 25000: After a sharp fall on Budget Day (February 1), domestic stock markets staged a strong recovery on Monday and closed higher. The BSE Sensex jumped 943.52 points to end at 81,666.46, while the NSE Nifty rose 262.95 points to close at 25,088.40.

In the special trading session held on Sunday, markets had seen heavy losses. The Sensex had dropped 1,546.84 points to 80,722.94, and the Nifty had fallen 495.20 points to 24,825.45.

Top Gainers and Losers:

Among Sensex stocks, Power Grid led the gains with a rise of 7.61%, followed by Adani Ports, which climbed 4.76%. Other major gainers included Bharat Electronics, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, InterGlobe Aviation, ICICI Bank, and UltraTech Cement.
On the losing side were Axis Bank, Infosys, TCS, Trent, and Titan.

Market Outlook:

Experts said the markets recovered well after the previous day’s volatility, which was triggered by a hike in STT on F&O trades and higher government borrowing plans for FY27. They added that the budget’s continued focus on growth and fiscal discipline has improved confidence in the market’s medium- to long-term outlook.
