Markets Close Strong as Sensex Jumps Over 2,000 Points
Stock Market Highlights: Sensex Soars 2,073 Points: News of a possible trade deal between India and the US gave a strong boost to the stock market on Tuesday. The BSE Sensex closed 2,072.67 points higher at 83,739.13, while the NSE Nifty jumped 639.15 points to end at 25,727.55.
Midcap and smallcap stocks also performed well. The Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices rose nearly 3%, showing strong investor confidence and broad-based buying across the market.
During early trade, the Sensex surged over 4,200 points to touch an intraday high of 85,871.73, while the Nifty climbed nearly 5%. Market capitalisation increased by more than ₹12.5 lakh crore in a single session.
The rally followed confirmation by US President Donald Trump that tariffs on Indian goods would be cut from 25% to 18%. In return, India agreed to sharply reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers on US products.
