Sensex Climbs 317 Points at Close; Nifty Tops 25,550 Mark
Sensex rises 317 points to close, Nifty crosses 25,550: The Indian stock market closed with a surge on Friday. At the time of market closing, BSE Sensex closed at 82,814.71 with a gain of 316.57 points or 0.38%, while Nifty 50 closed at 25,571.25 with a gain of 116.90 points or 0.46%.
1842 recoveries in the market were bullish, 2167 recoveries were bearish, while 153 recoveries remained unchanged. Major gainers on Nifty included Hindalco Industries, NTPC, SBI Life Insurance, Larsen & Toubro and Coal India. While the losers included Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Grasim Industries, and Eternal.
Talking about sectoral indices, all sectors except for the media (down around 1%) closed in the green. Power, metal, capital goods, and PSU bank indices registered gains of 1-2%. Midcap and smallcap indices witnessed a mixed trend. BSE Midcap closed with a gain of 0.5%, while BSE Smallcap closed with a slight decline.
