Stock Market Highlights: Sensex-Nifty closed with a decline: The domestic stock market witnessed a massive fall on Friday due to heavy selling in the shares of IT companies and other global signals. At the end of the trading, BSE Sensex fell by 1048.16 points and closed at 82,626.76. At the same time, NSE Nifty fell by 336.1 points and slipped to 25,471.10. The biggest losers on Nifty included Hindalco Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Eternal, Adani Enterprises, and ONGC. On the other hand, Bajaj Finance, Eicher Motors, SBI Life Insurance, State Bank of India, and Cipla managed to close with growth.

On a sectoral basis, almost all major indices closed in the red. Energy, metal, and realty indices fell by 2–3 percent, while IT, consumer durables, FMCG, telecom, infra, auto, power, PSU, and oil and gas indices fell by around 1%.

The broader market also witnessed heavy selling. The Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices fell by nearly 2 percent, weakening index sentiment. Among the top 30 companies on the BSE Sensex, Bajaj Finance and SBI closed in the green. The remaining 28 ended in the red, indicating a broad-based decline.
