Share Market Highlights, January 14, 2026: Sensex, Nifty End Lower as Key Stocks See Sharp Moves
Share Market Today: Sensex, Nifty Close in Red on January 14, 2026: The domestic stock market declined for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. After falling for five straight sessions last week, the market opened higher on Monday but failed to sustain gains. Following a weak close on Tuesday, the market ended lower again on Wednesday.
The BSE Sensex fell 244.98 points (0.29%) to close at 83,382.71. The NSE Nifty 50 also slipped 66.70 points (0.26%) to 25,665.60.
On Tuesday, the Sensex had dropped 250.48 points (0.30%) to 83,627.69, while the Nifty 50 had fallen 57.95 points (0.42%) to 25,732.30.
Majority of Sensex Stocks End Lower:
On Wednesday, 18 out of 30 Sensex stocks closed in the red, while 12 stocks ended with gains. In the Nifty 50, 27 stocks closed lower and 23 stocks finished higher.
Among Sensex stocks, Tata Steel recorded the highest gain, rising 3.70%. Asian Paints saw the biggest loss, falling 2.39%.

NTPC rose 3.21%, Axis Bank gained 2.98%, UltraTech Cement added 1.65%, Eternal climbed 1.60%, BEL increased 1.11%, Reliance Industries rose 0.48%, Trent gained 0.27%, HCL Tech added 0.22%, Infosys rose 0.07%, Adani Ports gained 0.06%, and ITC edged up 0.03%.
Losers:
TCS fell 2.30%, Maruti Suzuki declined 1.77%, Sun Pharma dropped 1.69%, Hindustan Unilever lost 1.53%, Kotak Mahindra Bank slipped 1.38%, Tech Mahindra fell 1.30%, ICICI Bank declined 1.28%, HDFC Bank dropped 1.20%, L&T fell 0.58%, IndiGo declined 0.53%, Titan slipped 0.47%, Bajaj Finserv and Mahindra & Mahindra each fell 0.37%, Bharti Airtel dropped 0.35%, Bajaj Finance slipped 0.29%, Power Grid declined 0.29%, and SBI ended marginally lower by 0.01%.
