Global Rally Sparks Dalal Street Surge; Sensex, Nifty Open in Green

Sensex Soars, Nifty Climbs as Overseas Markets Shine: Positive cues from overseas markets gave the domestic stock market a strong start on Thursday. Indian indices opened higher on February 19, leaving investors upbeat in early trade. The market rallied on the back of buying in IT and energy stocks, although select financial and aviation stocks also saw pressure.

Sensex and Nifty saw mild but firm gains:
In early trade, the Sensex gained 52.43 points to 83,786.68, while the Nifty rose 26.35 points to 25,845.70. Market breadth remained positive, with approximately 1,398 stocks advancing, 839 declining, and 144 remaining flat. This indicates broad-based buying, although gains remained limited.

IT and energy stocks provided support:
On the Nifty, heavyweights like HCL Technologies, ONGC, Infosys, TCS, and Tech Mahindra held firm. Global tech cues and stable crude oil prices supported these sectors. Meanwhile, stocks like InterGlobe Aviation, HDFC Life, Apollo Hospitals, Bajaj Finance, and Kotak Mahindra Bank saw pressure.
