Who can apply under the PM Awas Yojana? Families belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG), and Middle Income Group (MIG) segments, who reside in urban areas and do not own a pucca (permanent) house anywhere in the country in their name or in the name of any family member, are eligible to buy, build, or rent a house under the PMAY-U 2.0 scheme.
What is the definition of EWS, LIG, and MIG in the PMAY-U 2.0 scheme?
EWS families are defined as those with an annual income of up to ₹3 lakh. LIG families are defined as those with an annual income ranging from ₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh. MIG families are defined as those with an annual income ranging from ₹6 lakh to ₹9 lakh.
How can you apply? You can apply through the website https://pmay-urban.gov.in/. Here, you will need to provide your personal information along with property details. After verification, successful applicants receive government subsidies.
Assistance up to ₹2.50 lakh: Under this scheme, the government assists up to ₹2.50 lakh per unit.
