Indian Railways Confirms No RAC Tickets on Amrit Bharat Express

No RAC Facility on Amrit Bharat Express: The railways have introduced new rules. Indian Railways is making several changes to improve passenger services. As part of this effort, it has introduced new regulations for the Amrit Bharat Express trains that will be launched from January 2026. These new trains will run under the Amrit Bharat II scheme, which follows different fare and seating rules compared to earlier Amrit Bharat trains.

Confirmed Ticket Mandatory:

Indian Railways will allow travel on new Amrit Bharat Express trains only with confirmed tickets. These trains will not offer RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) from January 2026. Passengers with RAC tickets will not get seats in reserved coaches. However, general class rules will remain unchanged.

Limited Quota Availability:

The new Amrit Bharat Express trains will have only three quotas:

  • Women
  • Senior citizens
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Railways will not allow bookings under any other quota.

Fare Changes:

Under Amrit Bharat II:

-Sleeper class passengers must pay a minimum fare for 200 km, which is ₹149, even for shorter distances.

-General class passengers must pay a minimum fare for 50 km, which is ₹36, even if they travel a shorter distance.

For example, traveling 100 km in sleeper class will still cost ₹149, and traveling 10 km in general class will still cost ₹36.
