IndiGo Operational Crisis: IndiGo refunds ₹827 crore to passengers

Today is the 7th consecutive day of severe operational crisis at India’s leading airline IndiGo. The company has cancelled 500 flights on Monday as well, while today more than 1800 flights will take passengers to their destination. This information was given by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. In a statement, the ministry said that PNRs of 5,86,705 tickets booked for the period from 1st to 7th December have been cancelled and a refund of Rs 569.65 crore has been given. Apart from this, a total of 9,55,591 PNRs have been cancelled from 21st November to 7th December and a total refund of Rs 827 crore has been given.

The ministry said that the airline has handed over 4500 bags out of a total of 9000 bags to the passengers and the remaining bags will also be handed over to the passengers in the next 36 hours. The ministry said, “Today (Monday) IndiGo is planning to operate 1802 flights to 137 destinations out of 138. 500 of its flights have been cancelled. Due to new rules related to crew duty and changes in regulatory standards, IndiGo has been cancelling hundreds of flights daily since December 2. Due to this, lakhs of passengers across the country have faced huge inconvenience and problems.
