IndiGo Compensation: Passengers get major relief on flight cancellations, Know Details
IndiGo Compensation: Following guidelines from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, IndiGo will begin compensating passengers next week. Thousands of flights were cancelled at the beginning of December, causing significant inconvenience to many travelers.
The airline will issue travel vouchers as compensation to affected passengers starting December 26th. The government has instructed the airline to make payments to all eligible passengers as soon as possible. The ₹10,000 travel vouchers are for passengers who were stranded at airports for several hours on December 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
Direct Bookings to Receive Refunds First: IndiGo will prioritize refunds for passengers who booked their tickets directly through its official website, as the airline already has complete information for these passengers. Following this, IndiGo will collect passenger data from travel agents and online travel agencies to ensure that all affected customers receive their refunds directly.
DGCA to Monitor the Process: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will monitor the entire process. The Ministry will also monitor the process through the Air Seva portal to ensure that complaints are resolved as quickly as possible. IndiGo has already begun processing refunds for canceled flights, and some passengers have already received their full refunds.
However, many passengers who booked through online travel agencies have not yet received their refunds. Some online travel platforms, such as MakeMyTrip, had initiated the refund process even before receiving payment from the airline. The DGCA has instructed all online travel agencies to refund the full amount to passengers without any deductions.
