Bank Holiday: Christmas will be celebrated across the country today. Due to Christmas, banks will remain closed throughout the country today, Thursday, 25th December. Christmas is a gazetted holiday, meaning all schools, colleges, and government and private offices will be closed. In addition, all government and private banks will also be closed.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) bank holiday list, banking service counters will be closed across the country on Christmas Day, meaning all branches will be shut. Customers will not be able to clear checks, deposit or withdraw cash, or conduct other branch-related transactions. However, the good news is that despite the bank closures, UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and ATM services will remain operational as usual. Customers will still be able to perform online transactions, pay bills, and withdraw cash from ATMs.
Upcoming Bank Holidays in December 2025:
December 25 (Christmas): All banks will be closed throughout the country.
December 26 (Christmas Celebration): Banking services will be unavailable in Aizawl, Kohima, and Shillong.
December 27: Banks will be closed only in Kohima.
December 30 (U Kiang Nangbah’s Death Anniversary): Banks will be closed in Shillong.
December 31 (New Year’s Eve / Imoinu Iratpa): Banks will be closed in Aizawl and Imphal.
