Indian Railways Fare Hike From Today, Know The Details

Train travel will be more expensive from today, Railways have increased fares

Train Ticket Price Hike: If you travel by train, this news is very important for you. Indian Railways has revised train ticket fares. This means that from today, December 26, 2025, traveling on long-distance trains will be slightly more expensive. This increase will apply to General, Mail Express, and AC class tickets. However, the good news is that it will not affect local trains or monthly pass holders.

New Fares Effective from Today: The Railways has clarified that the increased fares are effective from today. This means that any passenger traveling more than 215 kilometers will now have to pay slightly more than before. The Railways says that this increase has been kept very limited so that it does not put too much burden on the common people.

How much has the fare increased in each category?

According to the Railways, if you travel more than 215 kilometers in the general category, you will now have to pay 1 paisa more per kilometer.

In the non-AC category of Mail and Express trains, the fare has been increased by 2 paise per kilometer.

The AC class has also seen an increase of 2 paise per kilometer.

This means that if a passenger travels 500 kilometers in a non-AC class, they will have to pay only 10 rupees more in total.

Which passengers will not be affected?

If you travel less than 215 kilometers, there is no change for you. Passengers who commute daily to and from Delhi-NCR and surrounding cities will get relief. Those who travel by train daily for work, studies, or other short trips will still get tickets at the old fares.
