Banks in Sikkim will be closed on Saturday, 20 December 2025. However, banks will remain open in all other states as it is the third Saturday of the month. Banks are open on the third Saturday.
Banks in Sikkim will remain closed for three consecutive days on December 20th (Saturday), December 21st (Sunday), and December 22nd (Monday). Banking services will be suspended due to the Losoong/Namsoong festival, celebrated by the Lepcha and Bhutia communities. This festival marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the Sikkimese New Year. Bank customers in Sikkim will experience a long weekend break.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) state-wise holiday calendar for 2025-26, banks, both public and private, will be closed for a total of 17 days in December 2025. This includes all Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, and local festivals. However, the good news is that digital banking services will remain operational even when banks are closed.
