e-Vitara: Maruti Suzuki to build over 1 lakh charging stations across the country

E-Vitara: Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first electric car, the e-Vitara. The company will officially launch this electric car in the coming days, after which its prices will also be revealed. Maruti Suzuki said on Tuesday that it will introduce many electric models in different sizes and will create charging infrastructure across the country to gain leadership in this segment. The company is preparing to launch its first electric car, the e-Vitara, next year.

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki plans to establish approximately 1 lakh charging stations across the country by 2030 in collaboration with dealers and charging point operators. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, said, “In line with our parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation’s vision, we will launch many more electric cars across different sizes and segments in the coming years.” In line with this vision, the goal is to establish a network of over 1 lakh charging stations in collaboration with dealers and charging point operators by 2030, he added.

Takeuchi said, “We will become the leader in electric mobility in the country, and as a market leader, we will make it easier for customers to adopt EVs.” The company will begin selling the e-Vitara in 2026, along with the establishment of the charging network. He stated that the company will be fully prepared for its foray into electric mobility, both in terms of product and environment. Takeuchi said the company has established a network of over 2,000 Maruti Suzuki exclusive charging stations across its sales and service centers in over 1,100 cities.

Maruti Suzuki India’s Managing Director and CEO said, “We have invested approximately ₹250 crore to develop charging infrastructure and apps across our dealer network.” Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara electric car will offer a range of 543 km on a single full charge. Maruti Suzuki will offer a BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) subscription with the e-Vitara, allowing customers to access the battery pack through a flexible plan.
