Bedsheet will be available for just Rs 20 in Sleeper Class
Train passengers will now be provided with sheets and pillows even in sleeper class. The Chennai division of Southern Railway stated that starting January 1, 2026, passengers traveling in sleeper class will be provided with clean, sanitized sheets and pillows.
Passengers will have to pay separately for this facility. Passengers who need sheets and pillows can pay a fee to obtain them from the coach attendant. It should be noted that this will be the first time in India that passengers will be provided with sheets and pillows even in the sleeper class. Currently, bedrolls—which include a sheet, pillow, blanket, and hand towel—are provided only in AC class.
Passengers in AC class do not have to pay extra for a bedroll, as the cost of a bedroll is already included in the ticket. The Chennai division of Southern Railway stated that a total of 50 rupees will be charged for a bedsheet, a pillow, and a pillow cover.
If passengers require only a bedsheet, they will have to pay 20 rupees, and if they require only a pillow with a cover, they will have to pay 30 rupees. This facility will not be available on all trains. In fact, the Chennai division of Southern Railway has taken the initiative to introduce this facility for passengers travelling in sleeper class in only 10 trains in the initial phase. If it is successful, it can definitely be expanded on a larger scale.
