You will have to pay an Rs 2000 extra rent for keeping pets at home, Know The Details

Now costlier the pets love, you will pay an extra 2000 rent for your pets

In Bengaluru, you can see more pet lovers. Dogs and Cats are literally seen in parks. Here, pets are members of the family. But the time of the home rent agreement, that time is costlier for the pets’ love. Pet rents are collected in Bengaluru. These pet rentals are Rs 1000 to 2000. It started in Koramangala and HSR Layout, where some young homeowners complained that pets caused significant damage to their homes.

Then, the news spread to Indiranagar, Bellandur, and Whitefield. Brokers began sneaking in conversations, saying pets were okay, but they would charge an extra 1,500 rupees. They also claimed this was for cleaning expenses. Gradually, it became so common that even before looking for a 2BHK, people are asked if there are pets. If yes, there will be extra rent.

When asked what the pet rent is for, the answers are almost always the same: deep cleaning, repainting walls and doors, cleaning due to fur and odors, stains on the balcony, noise or neighbor complaints, scratches on wooden frames or furniture, etc. However, many tenants say it’s more of a fear factor than a loss. Not all pets cause damage, but the rule applies to everyone.

Beyond additional rent, pet parents in Bengaluru often face rules that sometimes seem strange. Such as:

-Non-refundable pet deposits

-Advance painting costs

-Requirements for carrying pets in elevators

-Banning certain breeds

-No pets in common areas

-Fines for pet noise

What does the law say? According to the law, no state can impose a direct ban on pet ownership. Housing societies cannot restrict pets based on breed or size. However, private landlords can include clauses in their agreements. If you sign, you must abide by the rules. It is in this void that the game of pet rent, pet deposits, and extra charges begins.
