Tata Group is preparing to lay off a large number of employees
Tata Group Lay Off: Tata Digital is making some strategic changes. These major changes will be implemented for the first time under the tenure of new CEO Sajith Sivanandan, marking a major move away from a growth model based on gross merchandise value (GMV) and towards group-level integration.
Sivanandan, who was previously the president of Jio Mobile Digital Services, took over in September this year, becoming the company’s third CEO since its launch in 2019. Reports suggest that as part of these changes, the Tata Group may lay off more than 50% of its employees to streamline operations at its super app, Tata New.
A roadmap is being prepared: The Tata Group has already begun centralizing digital marketing mandates from Titan, IHCL, Tata Motors, and Tata Consumer Products. Strategic reviews are underway at BigBasket and Croma, with Shivanandan working closely with both teams to establish clear roadmaps for completion.
Delivery times are decreasing: For BigBasket, the top priority is BB Now, its express grocery branch. Here, it competes with Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart, platforms that have grown rapidly and established a strong presence in metro cities.
Delivery times are shrinking in the quick-commerce segment, leading legacy players like BigBasket to further enhance their BB Now operations while also leveraging their full-stack grocery supply chain.
