Train passengers will soon be able to enjoy food from leading food brands at railway stations. Indian Railways has approved the setting up of small stalls of Haldiram, McDonald’s, KFC, and many other leading food brands at select railway stations.

Railways has approved a new category of food stalls at stations called ‘Premium Brand Catering Outlets’ policy. However, such food stalls will be started at only a few railway stations for now. According to a report in Mid-Day, these stalls of big food brands will be set up on the new elevated decks being constructed at Khar, Kandivali, and many other suburban railway stations in Mumbai.

Haldiram’s, McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, and Pizza Hut products will be available at railway stations: Indian Railways has approved the “Premium Brand Catering Outlets” policy, aimed at improving passenger convenience and their dining experience. Under the “Premium Brand Catering Outlets” category, major food brands such as Haldiram’s, McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Pizza Hut, and Domino’s will be able to set up stalls in railway station buildings and platforms to sell food and beverages to passengers.

This decision by the Railways will not only provide passengers with a variety of dining options but also provide food brands with the opportunity to establish their businesses within railway station premises, where sales are expected to be significantly higher than in outlets elsewhere.
