Chief Minister Launches ‘Kanya Vivah’ Welfare Scheme
‘Kanya Vivah’ Scheme Rolled Out to Support Daughters’ Marriages: The ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah’ scheme was launched by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Ganjam Taratarini Peeth. As part of the launch event, 200 couples were married.
Before the launch, the Chief Minister shared a message on social media, saying that the government is committed to protecting the interests of the people of Odisha, especially women. He said the scheme will provide financial support so that the marriage of a girl child does not become a burden, particularly for families from economically weaker and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
He added that the scheme is not just about financial help but also aims to end social evils like dowry and promote respect for girls in society.
