Stock Market Highlights: Sensex Jumps 398 Points, Nifty Crosses 25,200
Markets End Higher as Sensex Gains 398 Points, Nifty Above 25,200: After falling for three straight sessions, the domestic stock market rebounded sharply on Thursday and ended in positive territory. The BSE Sensex rose 397.74 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 82,307.37, while the Nifty gained 132.40 points, or 0.53 percent, to settle at 25,289.90.
Market breadth remained strong, with 2,803 shares advancing, 1,235 declining, and 146 ending unchanged, reflecting broad-based buying.
On the Nifty, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Bharat Electronics, Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises, and Tata Steel led the gains. On the other hand, SBI Life Insurance, Eicher Motors, Titan Company, and Jio Financial Services faced selling pressure and closed lower.
Sector-wise, most indices ended higher. FMCG, IT, Metal, Media, PSU Bank, and Pharma stocks rose between 1 and 2 percent. Only the Realty and Consumer Durables sectors closed in the red.
The broader market also performed well, with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices both rising by around 1 percent.
