After Space Missions, What Will Sunita Williams Earn as a Pension: Under FERS, authorities calculate the pension based on an employee’s total years of service and the average salary from the highest-paid three consecutive years, commonly known as the “high-3” salary. Williams completed 27 years of service, which also includes time credited from her career as a US Navy captain.
Estimated Pension Amount:
Williams is expected to receive around 1% of her high-3 average salary for each year of service. With her GS-15 pay grade and an estimated annual salary of ₹1.20–1.30 crore, her federal pension could be approximately $43,200 per year, or about ₹36 lakh annually. However, the exact pension amount has not been officially disclosed.
Social Security Benefits:
Apart from her FERS pension, Sunita Williams will also be eligible for benefits under the US Social Security Scheme, which will provide her with an additional monthly income after retirement.
Other Retirement Benefits:
In addition to pension and Social Security, Williams will continue to receive other post-retirement benefits. These include health insurance, life insurance, and savings accumulated under the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), the US government’s retirement savings programme.
