In the international market, silver prices also declined. Spot silver fell 1.6% to $83.62 per ounce, after touching a record high of $86.22 on Monday. The fall came amid concerns about the independence of the US Federal Reserve, after reports that the Trump administration threatened a criminal investigation into the Fed Chairman.
Experts say weak demand and a strong US dollar are leading investors to book profits. However, geopolitical tensions and expectations of at least two US interest rate cuts this year are helping to support prices.
