Now you no need to visit government offices to get a ration card, apply online from home using the UMANG app
The government has implemented schemes to provide better food security to every citizen of the country. Among these, the ration card is the most important document, required by every family. If you don’t yet have a ration card and are troubled by long queues at government offices, there’s some relief. The government has simplified the process; you can apply for a ration card online from your home using the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app, hassle-free.
How to Apply in Online: Under the Digital India campaign, you can download the UMANG app on your mobile phone. After downloading the app, register and go to the home page. Here, go to the Services section, and then you’ll find the ration card option under the Utility Services option.
Click on ‘Apply Ration Card’ on the UMANG app, then select your state. Currently, this feature is available for a few states, such as Chandigarh, Ladakh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. This service will be rolled out to more states soon. After selecting your state, fill in the required information in the application form: name, father’s name, date of birth, address, and other family members’ information. After filling in all the necessary details, upload the relevant documents and finally click Submit.
The online application facility will save people time and eliminate the hassle of visiting government offices. Furthermore, the digital process increases both transparency and convenience. Applying through the UMANG app is completely secure and easy. As this feature is implemented in other states, people across the country will be able to benefit from it.
