On Monday, shares of 16 out of 30 companies in the Sensex closed higher, in positive territory
On Monday, the first trading day of the week, the domestic stock market closed lower. The BSE Sensex closed down 322.39 points (0.38%) at 85,439.62, while the NSE Nifty 50 index closed 78.25 points (0.30%) lower at 26,250.30. Shares of IT companies, in particular, saw significant losses today. The market opened with a slight decline but briefly moved into positive territory before selling pressure intensified, resulting in a continuous decline throughout the day.
On Monday, shares of 16 out of the 30 companies in the Sensex closed higher, while the remaining 14 companies saw their shares close lower. Similarly, 23 out of the 50 companies in the Nifty 50 closed higher, while the remaining 27 companies saw their shares close lower. Among the Sensex companies, BEL shares gained the most, rising by 2.65 percent, while HDFC Bank shares fell the most, declining by 2.35 percent.
Among the other Sensex companies, shares of Hindustan Unilever closed 1.62 percent higher, Tata Steel 1.56 percent, UltraTech Cement 1.53 percent, Axis Bank 1.45 percent, Asian Paints 1.40 percent, ICICI Bank 1.23 percent, Maruti Suzuki 1.12 percent, Titan 0.70 percent, SBI 0.60 percent, Trent 0.47 percent, Adani Ports 0.27 percent, Power Grid 0.22 percent, Sun Pharma 0.05 percent, and Bajaj Finserv also closed 0.05 percent higher.
