Silver Rate Today (5th January, 2026)
Silver Price: Silver prices have been rising sharply since the beginning of January. On January 5th, at 7:42 AM (IST), the spot price of silver in the international market was recorded at $75.34 per ounce, representing a 3.69 percent increase in a single day and a 4.19% increase over the past week. This surge comes amidst heightened global geopolitical tensions following recent military action by the US against Venezuela. This tension has led investors to seek safe-haven assets, increasing demand for both gold and silver.
In the domestic market, silver futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) opened on Monday at ₹246,198 per kilogram for 999 purity silver. This price is 4.18 percent higher than the previous closing price of ₹236,316. It’s worth noting that silver also touched an all-time high of ₹254,174 per kilogram on December 29, 2025.
There is not much difference in silver prices across major cities in the country. In Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, silver was priced at around ₹2,40,900 per kilogram, while in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kerala, it was recorded at approximately ₹2,56,900 per kilogram. Experts believe that the prices of precious metals may strengthen further in the aftermath of the US-Venezuela tensions.
