Know how much the bank clerk’s salary will increase after the implementation of the 8th pay commission
According to media reports, the basic salary of newly recruited SBI clerks under the new Pay Commission could exceed ₹30,000. This is higher than the current starting basic salary of ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments for graduates. This potential increase will make SBI clerk positions even more attractive to new job seekers looking for stability and a respectable starting salary.
According to the official notification, a basic salary of an SBI Clerk is ₹26,730. Including various allowances, the gross monthly salary is approximately ₹45,888. After deducting approximately ₹6,359, the total on-hand salary is approximately ₹39,529. This amount is the current take-home pay for new clerks before any amendments of the 8th Pay Commission are implemented.
A significant portion of SBI clerks’ earnings comes from allowances. These include a dearness allowance of approximately ₹7,161, a house rent allowance of approximately ₹2,862 (depending on the posting location), a transportation allowance of ₹850, a special allowance of approximately ₹7,083, and a special pay of ₹1,200. These allowances together contribute to the gross monthly income and play a significant role in increasing take-home pay.
The in-hand salary of an SBI clerk varies depending on the employee’s location. Employees working in branches in metropolitan or major cities receive a higher house rent allowance, which increases their monthly salary. In comparison, employees working in smaller towns or rural areas receive a lower house rent allowance, although the lower cost of living in such areas often offsets overall expenses, providing various financial benefits.
SBI follows a structured promotional pay scale that ensures steady career growth. A clerk’s basic salary increases gradually, starting at ₹26,730, reaching ₹28,070, ₹33,020, ₹41,020, ₹57,400, ₹61,800, and finally reaching ₹64,480 with several increments.
