Share Market: On Tuesday, the domestic equity market opened on a weak note. The BSE Sensex began trading at 84,600.99, slipping 94.55 points or 0.11%, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened marginally lower at 25,940.90, down 1.20 points. The market had started flat on Monday but ended the session with notable losses.
The Sensex closed at 84,695.54, falling 345.91 points or 0.41%, and the Nifty settled at 25,942.10, down 100.20 points or 0.38%. On Tuesday, only 5 out of the 30 companies in the Sensex opened in positive territory, while the shares of the remaining 23 companies opened lower. Reliance and Power Grid shares opened unchanged.
Similarly, in the Nifty 50, only 14 out of 50 companies saw their shares open higher, while 35 companies opened lower, and one company’s shares opened unchanged. Among the Sensex companies, BEL shares saw the biggest gain, opening 0.53 percent higher, while Eternal shares experienced the largest decline, opening 0.80 percent lower.
Among the other Sensex companies, Axis Bank shares started the day trading 0.12 percent higher, ITC 0.10 percent higher, Hindustan Unilever 0.04 percent higher, and ICICI Bank shares 0.01 percent higher.
